Fur Services Fur Pets announced today that its Feeding Our Fur Friends program has donated 19,469 meals to animal rescues and shelters since the program launched on June 1, 2024. The Aubrey, Texas-based in-home pet care company donates one meal for every service visit its Pet Companions complete, and delivers the donation each quarter to the rescue organizations it has partnered with for the year.
The donation is calculated from completed work rather than set as a fixed annual gift. At the close of each quarter, the company totals the visits its team completed, determines what a serving of food costs for the rescue partners receiving that quarter's contribution, and sends the donation. Because the figure is tied to visits rather than to a budget line, a busier quarter produces a larger donation without any separate decision being made. Two organizations are selected for each cycle, and customers take part in choosing them, which keeps the recipients rotating through the rescue community instead of concentrating on one group.

The most recent contribution, made in September, was split evenly between Heavenly Purrsuits Rescue and Little Elm Animal Services. Little Elm Animal Services asked for its share as supplies rather than money. The company spent the equivalent amount fulfilling items from the wish list the shelter publishes, delivering goods the staff had identified themselves instead of a check the shelter would then have to spend.
"Every visit our Pet Companions complete turns into a meal for an animal that does not have a home yet," said Jessica Milam, owner of Fur Services Fur Pets. "Our clients are the ones funding this. They book the visits. We count them and pass it along."
Heavenly Purrsuits Rescue and Little Elm Animal Services are the program's partners for the 2026-2027 cycle. Earlier cycles have supported Dallas Cat Lady, A Voice for All Paws, Spicy Whiskers Cat Rescue and Murdocks Mission.
"We are so grateful for partners like Fur Services Fur Pets, who not only provide a great service to the community but also give back to local causes," said Heidi Sills, president of Spicy Whiskers Cat Rescue. "Because of their generosity, Spicy Whiskers Cat Rescue was able to purchase sixty bags of kitten kibble to help feed tiny hungry mouths. Rescue truly takes a village, and we are so proud to partner with Fur Services Fur Pets."
The program was created in response to shelter and rescue capacity pressures the company observed among the organizations it works with, and after its owner took in a dog that had been found starving on the street. Rather than run a one-time fundraiser, the company tied the donation to its own volume so that the contribution grows as the business does. The structure also removes the need to decide each year whether to give, and how much, since the answer is produced by work the company has already completed and invoiced.
"Shelters know what they need better than we do," said Milam. "When a shelter tells us it would rather have supplies than a check, that is an easy yes. We bought what was on their list, because that list was written by the people doing the feeding."
Fur Services Fur Pets provides dog walking, cat sitting, pet sitting, mid-day visits and overnight stays in clients' homes, and each completed visit counts toward the meal total. The company reports the running figure publicly on its Contributions page, and updates it as the donations are made.
The next contribution is scheduled for December, which is expected to carry the program past 20,000 meals donated. Details of the Feeding Our Fur Friends program, the current meal count and the organizations receiving donations are available at https://www.furservicesfurpets.com/contributions/.
